The xp boosts that gymnast provide are pretty useful to keeping you alive in combat so I always take it. Getting into a zombie's line-of-sight is almost always a bad idea, so this perk hurts newer players a lot more than it hurts experienced players. Farming isnt too difficult to level, either. Tailoring is a massively overlooked skill and starting XP boosts to tailoring are few and far between. First Aid is such a brokenly bad skill it shouldn't even be in the game currently. Again you probably don't know how detection works in the game. Some additional thoughts from me: Speed demon has an unlisted downside of making your engine rev WAY faster, and since engine noise is based on RPM this means that cars are WAY louder. Can be annoying having to eat so often, though. Always love learning the little quirks like this in the game. Because of this, it may prove to be a daunting task, and new players may feel unsure which should they pick or which is the best. Positive Traits: Speed Demon 1/5 Waste of one point. NEVER take this. The combo costs 2 points net for 1 str, 1 axe and 1 sprinting. But keep in mind that you will need to deal with this trait's adverse side effects for the early portion of your game, which islow endurance and endurance regeneration. Although the description of the negative trait says it decreases theplayer's vision, It appears not to affect the character in any noticeable way. Unless youre able to set yourself up well with vehicles, gas, weapons and meds before you die; youre going to have to do the early game grind all over again. Pacifist, despite what it says, only makes you get 30% less experience with weapons. The mechanics are complicated but a few levels in nimble/lightfooted largely nullify clumsy, and being in stealth gives zombies a chance to ignore your footstep sounds on top of that. Eventually Claustrophobic will wear off in Project Zomboid as well. It can be rather annoying having a character only stressing out any time you go into a tight. I guess it is really playstyle dependent. Gymnast is S tier just like athletic. 50% lower item transfer time is not only convenient for day to day living, but also really helps out when looting surrounded by zombies. The XP boost to nimble is great, as it levels extremely slowly on its own. High Thirst is the easiest negative trait to manage in Project Zomboid, and it gives you an impressive six extra points to spend on positive traits. Becomes a less of an issue with fast learner, but having high levels in weapon skills is essential for combat. https://discord.gg/theindiestone, Press J to jump to the feed. This is a real challenge to start with and a pain in the ass to raise your fitness. New players are going to be better off with thick-skinned as it makes the game just a little bit more forgiving. Still pretty bad for new players. It's only useful to save time and hence make the game slightly less boring. Only downside is sometimes you have nothing to do in a day, leaving your character to get bored and depressed, but thats what sleeping pills and exercise are for. Just confirming what you stated about keen hearing. Luckily this is manageable as long as you have a steady supply of cigarettes. What pacifist actually does is lower the experience gain for weapon-related skills. It doesn't make it trash, but it does make it weaker than many people thought. If you're an experienced driver with a PC that can run the game well you are simply NEVER going to die to Speed Demon, and the increase in acceleration speeds up gameplay; particularly when it comes to towing. Horrible for new players, but experienced players shouldnt be getting scratched often, if at all. But if you are looking for positive traits, you can find a link to a guide for the best positive traits below. Project. Possibly the best perk you can take. Smokes have always been pretty easy to find in Project Zomboid. For only 2 points, this trait is a steal. The Weak Stomach trait causes the player to have more food illnesses but is easily avoided if you watch what you eat in the game. It's a complete joke as-is. Description: Stress and unhappiness decrease after smoking tobacco. The name of the game is avoid being attacked at all costs since any damage from a zombie can be a death sentence. I agree that dexterous is mandatory and I couldnt play without it. In short, when you get injured, just avoid combat and take it easy for a few days and let your wounds heal. 4 points, too. Positive traits in Project Zomboid give players a specific advantage. I wanted to spice up my character with some positive and negative traits to make zomboid a little more interesting. Generally high-fat foods are going to be easy to find. This perk isnt working at all as of the time im writing this, so its free points. May be worth it if its something you personally struggle with, or if it fits your playstyle. Along with surviving the most obvious threat of flesh eating undead you will have to navigate your character's psyche as well as stress will impact your character's ability to deal with their situation. Still, if your character is the farmer of the group and will stay mostly out of the action, a thin-skinned hemophobic will give you plenty of points to spend on some great perks in the positive traits side. Along the same lines as thin-skinned Hemophobic is another great trait for those that are pretty good at avoiding combat. I used to not run it, but I think I'll always run it in the future ever since using it. As far as I know it's not like 10-100 times per second or anything like that. The farming skill itself isn't THAT useful though and your points will often best be spent elsewhere. Inconspicuous and Graceful: you probably didn't look into how these work. Take weak stomach instead. I always take wakeful so I have more time for zombie stomping in a day. Expensive, though. High Thirst (water is trivial unless you have month-long drought) Underweight (just gorge yourself on perishable food before the power goes out) Hemophobic (just wash your clothes) Smoker (this is a positive trait disguised as a negative one) Prone to Illness (free points; just don't sit out in the rain naked for hours) Also IRL Nervous Wreck. In order to start playing, your points must have a total of 0. However, there are a ton ofboth positive and negative traits to choose from. Water is very easy to find, not worth 6 points, stops you from taking high thirst. Speaking of underweight as a negative trait.. This is honestly a very great perk worth considering, especially for only 4 points. Im not sure why you rate hiker and gardener so highly. Character is going to be stressed all the time, and washing clothes wastes time and water (and sometimes becomes unavailable while away from base once water supply cuts out). ._1QwShihKKlyRXyQSlqYaWW{height:16px;width:16px;vertical-align:bottom}._2X6EB3ZhEeXCh1eIVA64XM{margin-left:3px}._1jNPl3YUk6zbpLWdjaJT1r{font-size:12px;font-weight:500;line-height:16px;border-radius:2px;display:inline-block;margin-right:5px;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;vertical-align:text-bottom;white-space:pre;word-break:normal;padding:0 4px}._1jNPl3YUk6zbpLWdjaJT1r._39BEcWjOlYi1QGcJil6-yl{padding:0}._2hSecp_zkPm_s5ddV2htoj{font-size:12px;font-weight:500;line-height:16px;border-radius:2px;display:inline-block;margin-right:5px;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;vertical-align:text-bottom;white-space:pre;word-break:normal;margin-left:0;padding:0 4px}._2hSecp_zkPm_s5ddV2htoj._39BEcWjOlYi1QGcJil6-yl{padding:0}._1wzhGvvafQFOWAyA157okr{font-size:12px;font-weight:500;line-height:16px;border-radius:2px;margin-right:5px;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;vertical-align:text-bottom;white-space:pre;word-break:normal;box-sizing:border-box;line-height:14px;padding:0 4px}._3BPVpMSn5b1vb1yTQuqCRH,._1wzhGvvafQFOWAyA157okr{display:inline-block;height:16px}._3BPVpMSn5b1vb1yTQuqCRH{background-color:var(--newRedditTheme-body);border-radius:50%;margin-left:5px;text-align:center;width:16px}._2cvySYWkqJfynvXFOpNc5L{height:10px;width:10px}.aJrgrewN9C8x1Fusdx4hh{padding:2px 8px}._1wj6zoMi6hRP5YhJ8nXWXE{font-size:14px;padding:7px 12px}._2VqfzH0dZ9dIl3XWNxs42y{border-radius:20px}._2VqfzH0dZ9dIl3XWNxs42y:hover{opacity:.85}._2VqfzH0dZ9dIl3XWNxs42y:active{transform:scale(.95)} Positive traits are available if you have some extra points spare to use before jumping into the game. Aside from exhaustion, sleepiness is the biggest danger as the more tired you get, the more your perception decreases. Because of this, it's an easy +2 point that can go towards a decent positive trait. Cigarettes are easy to find, and i think smoking every so often adds a neat little bit of immersion. Being even drowsy drastically reduces your melee damage output. Hunter is nice to the xp boosts to some skills but again, I play on insane pop so sneaking isnt particularly viable. Maintenance and carpentry are essential skills. Whether you get lucky with a tub of ice cream in the freezer or come across a couple of sticks of butter putting on long-term weight is not so hard in Project Zomboid. Prone to illness + outdoorsman somewhat cancel out for +2 points. Don't eat spoiled food. The end result is usually pulling a few more zombies than you would without the trait, making it a decent negative trait for a combat build. You should just rest when you get hurt and avoid combat for a few days so that your wounds can heal.
